Shapla Salique (Bangladesh)
21 Dec 2017, TR WARSZAWA
About the event
The artist employs traditional Bengali music to create its most refined combinations with jazz and soul vibrations, introducing the new generations of audiences to the somehow forgotten local folklore. Her work is rooted in the songs of Bauls, nomadic mystics, god's madcaps, performing extremely emotional pieces, expressing spiritual fulfillment and mystical experiences. Following the Bauls' footsteps, Shapla Salique uses a melodic, trans form to present love songs accompanied by traditional, Bangladeshi instruments (tabla, harmonium, ektara) and the smooth-jazz sounds of double bass, drums, acoustic guitar and saxophone.
